The Shaman plays a vital role in bridging Christianity with Pagan Tradition. He does so without creating any conflicts with the Catholic Church. His main function is to bring back lost souls. Tarahumaras belief that they possess several souls which reside in different parts of their body. When a the soul leaves the body, the person gets sick. The Shaman brings the lost soul back in his dreams thereby saving peoples’s lives.
